Paparazzi Accessories – Better Than Hypoallergenic?

Better than hypoallergenic?

Many times, I get asked if Paparazzi Accessories is hypoallergenic by my customers.  While we are not listed as “hypoallergenic”, we are actually better than hypoallergenic!

What is “hypoallergenic”?

Let’s start by defining hypoallergenic.  According to the dictionary:

hy·po·al·ler·gen·ic
ˌhīpōˌalərˈjenik/Submit
adjective
1.  designed to reduce or minimize the possibility of an allergic response, as by containing relatively few or no potentially irritating substances:

It’s important to note that hypoallergenic items can still cause an allergic reaction…they are just less likely to do so.  There is no requirement that allergens be completely removed from those items in order to be called hypoallergenic.

Most common jewelry allergens

When talking about jewelry, there are 2 very common allergens to be concerned about: nickel and lead.

Both nickel and lead allergies can lead to “contact dermatitis”, which is basically a red, irritated rash that forms wherever that metal has touched you.  It is most commonly associated with jewelry.

Obviously, if you have an allergy to either lead or nickel, you will want to completely avoid them at all costs.

Paparazzi Accessories are lead & nickel free!

At just $5 a piece, you might think that Paparazzi Accessories would trigger allergic reactions in people with metal sensitivities.  But you would be wrong!

Paparazzi Accessories have always been both lead and nickel free!

And in my book, completely eliminating those most common metal allergens from our product makes Paparazzi Accessories better than hypoallergenic!

So the next time you have someone ask you if Paparazzi is hypoallergenic, you can tell them that Paparazzi Accessories is actually better than hypoallergenic!

Do you have an allergy to lead or nickel?  Have you tried Paparazzi Accessories?  Let me know your experience in the comments!

If you have an allergy and have never tried Paparazzi Accessories before, please send me an email at jewelry@jessdavison.com.  I’d love to help you discover a whole new world of affordable jewelry!

  1. I have bought so much paparazzi that I can’t close my jewelry case any more lol sad thing is I can’t wear any of it! I get a red rash around my neck where the jewelry lays. I have pictures. So no more necklaces for me. Now it’s the earrings. Turn my earlobes holes a black color and gives me infections. Hmmm are they sure they are lead n Nicole free? I’d l love to have mine tested!!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear you’re having issues with Paparazzi Jewelry. Absolutely lead & nickel free…we have many customers with severe allergies that can wear our with no issues. However, you may very well have an allergy to another metal in the jewelry. The primary composition is iron, with zinc, steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. Hope this helps!
