When You Hear God Calling, Do You Say Yes?

What do you do when you hear God calling?  Hopefully, you answer!

Nearly a year ago, the Director of Religious Education in our Catholic Church parish called me and asked if I had any interest in attending a workshop in far away June on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based CCD program for the children.  I agreed simply because I LOVE teaching, and it is my educational background.

Little did I know the richness this workshop would bring into my life!

For the past week, I have been absorbing information at an often alarming rate, preparing for the opportunity to actually present this new material to a group of sweet young faces this fall! All because I heard God calling!

Alas, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is very time consuming for the catechist, and so I will be preparing lots of material over the course of the next 3 months!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd City Of Jerusalem
This is a model of the. It’s Of Jerusalem, with movable pieces so children can work with it and make it their own! It highlights all of the different places associated with the Passion of Christ.

I say all of this because from the moment I learned what the CGS actually is, I knew in my heart of hearts that I was meant to be learning this, and I am meant to be part of the creation of a new Atrium in our Church!  God knew what he was doing when he prompted my yes so long ago, and I have heard His calling all week.

My heart is rejoicing as I have finally found my way to contribute to my parish in this most special way!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Liturgical Calendar
The Liturgical Calendar highlights each of the weeks of the year, and how they combine to create the year in the Church! Children learn how long each season is, and the colors associated with each season.

Listen when He calls!  You may well be tempted to say no, but He always has a bigger plan!

I am so excited to see where this journey will take me, and more importantly, the young minds of our 3-6 year olds!

Pray for me and for our youth that we are able to bring the CGS to its full beauty!
